Speaker Event: Artificial Intelligence for Next-Generation Robotic Space Missions
Time & Location
About the Event
During this talk, we had the privilege to listen to Dr. Andrew Coles present his research on mars rovers, sponsored by the European commission. He explained the challenges of space robotics and computation, in particular the limitations of cosmic radiation proof processors. He also presented to us the kind of AI his team are using, computer vision to model the world and AI planning to make decisions. He shared with us the importance of finding the bridge between data driven and model based AI. We then had the opportunity to look at pictures of the latest expirement site for the rover in Tenerife. The talk was concluded by a conversation about how AI exploded in the last ten years and how it is an exciting time to work with and research Artificial Intelligence. We hope to give you a bit more insight on the technical background of the research presented in our next workshop on AI planning.
